I founded Gunoush Kennels in early 2004, when I moved to South Australia from Lancefield Victoria.
Dog shows have always been part of my life, whether it be through my grandmother’s, (Marjorie Fisher) kennel AGRAVANZO, my Mothers FOIRFIGH Cocker Spaniels or even GUNLOCH Kennels, owned by my Father & his partner Jan Olsen. My life was never going to be far from a show ring.
My father was not involved in dogs, until he married into the family. He was responsible for the addition of English Pointers to Agravanzo.
I was given my first Cocker by Jan in January 2001. She was a wriggly naughty buddle of fun, and has now become my pride and joy, as well as my foundation bitch, Aust CH Gunloch Stratoscu (Sienna).
2005 & 2006 saw the arrival of a Blue Roan and Tan dog from Spain, Portuguese Champion Secorcan Dinarama Winds of Change and also our first solid coloured Cocker. "Bliss" aka Choc Ice Some Kind of Bliss (imp Swd). These two outstanding cockers will certainly add a new dimension to Cocker breeding in Australia.
We werefortunate enough to acquire some lovely dogs to start off our own more complex breeding program, from kennels such as Lehearn Kennels (owned by Edna & Syd Flynn) and Gunwise Kennels (Carol Lee Dawon) we have bred some lovely cockers since breeding the first GUNOUSH Litter in August 2005.
After assessing my life in many ways, it was time for a change, and ZENSU KENNELS was born.
In 2005 I was taken in a new direction with the acquisition of an English Pointer. My father had many years ago introduced these wonderful dogs to my life, and I had always known that they would share my future in some way.
So Ryan arrived and he has certainly proved to be a force in the show ring here in Adelaide. Ryan (Aust GR CH Beautelle Bee Ware) has had much success in since his debut, despite a break of almost 18months. He was No. 1 Pointer in South Australia in both 2006 & 2007 and now 2008 (DogzOnline).
Ryan completed his Grand Championship on new Years Eve 2008, and we look forward to what the future holds for this exuberant boy.
Since Ryan’s arrival we have been lucky to have a few more exceptional boys join our team.
BIS Aust/ NZ Ch Robwyn Mr. Bojangles (Imp NZ), or Magnum as he is known. Came to us, so that Ben had a dog of his own to show, after much success in the ring on both sides of the Tasman. He is now solely owned by Ben and myself, and for this we are forever indebt to his breeder Paul Robinson.
The team of Ben (my husband) & Magnum have certainly proved to be a successful combination, taking out too many wins to list them all individually. His highlight with us of course being, BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP FOURTH at Adelaide Royal in 2008. We look forward to letting this handsome boy spend the rest of his life here at Zensu.
The next boy to join our team was Wesley (Aust CH Chesterhope My Foreign Envoy). Wesley is an outstanding combination of his MULTI BEST IN SHOW winning parents. We are more than excited about this young boy’s future, and cannot wait to see what heights he can reach in the next few years.
He has already begun to follow in the illustrious pawprints of his parents winning his first RUNNER UP IN SHOW at only 18months and gaining his Australian Championship a few short weeks. Some of his other highlights include Best in Group at 7 months of age, Baby Puppy in Group - Autumn International and Puppy in Group - Adelaide Royal Show. Wesley is now a multi Best In Group and a BEST IN SHOW winner at both All Breeds Champ and Specialty Open Show Level.
Of course no breeding program can begin without the addition of some fabulous girls to our line-up.
So Aust Ch Beautelle Bizzy Bee joined our family. Once again, Jorja combines some lovely lines that we believe will provide us with a solid foundation for the future. Jorja is now retired form the ring, and lives the life of luxury with good friends of ours - Nigel and Kelly and their three young daughters, Jasmin, Aliesha and Taili, after contracting Pyrometra and being desexed.
The next girl to arrive at Zensu is Kirby - Aust CH Beautelle Ova The Rainbow. Sired by our Wesley, we have high hopes for her future. She is exclusively handled by up and coming junior handler Amanda Marsden, who has put countless time into training her for the show ring. Amanda handled Kirby all the way through to her title, culminating with a 17pt BCC at Spring Fair 2009.
Early 2009 we welcomed yet another Kiwi into our household. Lilly (Aust CH Chesterhope Little Lil [Imp NZ] ) was offered to us by Diane, and we couldnt resist this girl! She debuted at one of Adelaide's biggest International shows with BCC, RUBOB and JUNIOR IN SHOW! She has since settled in well, and attained her title with ease, picking up BCC at Adelaide Royal 2009 along the way,
Our dogs are only a tribute the quality their pedigree provides, and for this we sincerely thank Steve & Jackie Wraith, Diane O'Neill, Paul Robinson and Jan James, whos breeding provide the foundation for all of our current dogs.
Ben & I are extremely excited about our future and hope with our journey far from complete, keep an eye out for some exciting additions set to join our team very shortly.
